I need to ask about the best location for the o2 sensor wire connector for my Autotune module. I could go right up through the hole in the swingarm that the rear shock travels through but I don't like that idea because the flexion in the suspension could cause some rubbing or pulling of the wire which will need to be routed along the frame to under the seat where the A-tune module will be located.
Between the water pump and the shift lever seems like a nice place for the connector. This location does not interfere with operation of the shift lever. The connector is not covered which would allow it to be sprayed by water any time i am riding on damp pavement. Also, the connector is squashed right against the water pump and that thing must give off a decent amount of heat when the motor gets hot.
I could go to the other side. The wire would have to be bent over sharply from the sensor but that would give me enough length to position the connector right under the oil sight glass. This would be in a place where the fairing would protect the connector from splashes and dirt. The connector makes contact with the inside of the fairing and this distorts the shape of the fairing just a bit. That thin strip of fairing where the back fastener goes is pretty flexible though. The connector would also be touching the bottom of the crankcase and the exhaust is a couple inches below so we have a lot of heat again.
So which location seems best or is about the same either way?
